History of Briefcase Full of Blues: During the late winter of 1978, Dave Robinson (now known as Phoney Ellwood) was tipped off by a friend to check out a band at the Lone Star Cafe in Manhattan: "Belushi and Akroyd were both there dressed as Jake and Ellwood. Also in the band was the Roomful of Blues horns and guitarist Duke Robillard. Belushi was squirting beer on the crowd who seemed to love it. A month later--April 22nd--I saw the final Blues Brothers Band with Duck Dunn, Steve Cropper, and the Saturday Night Live musicians on television." Robinson realised that although he would not be able to be an actual member of this band, he dreamed of one day forming a Fake Blues Brothers Band. This dream was realized with the formation of the Mission From God/ Blues Brothers Tribute Band in 1994. Six years later this band suffers chronic symptoms of an "Acute Identity Psychosis". When they put put on the monkey suits, pick up their instruments, and crank up the Bluesmobile, they sincerely believe they really are in Calumet City!
